Strategic Alliance : whilst all market entry methods essentially involve alliances of some kind, during the 1980s the term strategic alliance started to be used, without being precisely defined, to cover a variety of contractual arrangements which are intended to be strategically beneficial to both parties but cannot be defined as clearly as licensing or joint ventures.
